First things first, we have finally decided on names for our two precious girls......drum roll please......A will be Penelope Anne Chu (probably called Penny Anne) and B will be Lydia Belle Chu. YAY!!! That makes their middle names A and B respectively. Now you can all pray for them by name!
OK, now down to business. Our appointment today was another no bad news appointment! Penny still has some reverse flow in her umbilical artery (has had since before Houston) but her umbilical vein shows good flow. She still has really low amniotic fluid but it's clear that her bladder and kidney are functioning and producing urine even though it's a small amount. Her lung to heart proportions still look good, as does her heart rate, and she's showing no signs of additional distress! The biggest good news is that she's gained 4 oz (about 100g) in 2 weeks!!! Now she weighs 13 oz which is 361g. So with that rate of growth she'll be right on track to be 500g or more for their early arrival around Christmas! She's so long now that her head is down at my cervix and her feet are up in my ribs! Even though the rib kicks aren't the most comfortable thing I've ever experienced, I'm grateful for every one! Dr. Schneider said that the activity level she's keeping along with her good numbers make him happy, and although he doesn't have a crystal ball, he's glad to see things moving this way.
Lydia hardly even gets talked about with the doctor because she's doing perfectly. She weighed 1 lb 8 oz. which is 668 grams and is measuring right on track. Today her head was up in my right side and her feet were dancing on my bladder. She was just as active as ever!
What we need continued prayer for is that Penny will grow even at a more miraculous rate, that she will not be in any distress, and that Lydia will develop as she is so that when they are born prematurely they will have the best of chances. Also pray for us as we try to prepare emotionally, financially, and practically for having 2 extremely premature babies. Thanks so much again for love and support!
