12-30

Count this one as another good day.  Both girls are stable and handling life's little hurdles well.  Both of their feeding schedules got doubled today (Penny at 1cc every 3 hrs and Lydia at 2ccs every 3 hours) and their labs and blood gases all looked good.  Neither one of their Ductuses (is that the plural of ductus?) are closing but for both we will continue to wait rather than medicate because they're not showing any related distress.

Jonathan and I are loving having time with our girls but hate leaving the one to be with the other even though our hearts want to be with the other just as badly.  It's a very unnatural thing.  We're also each having some physical difficulty to deal with.  Jonathan is having some upper digestive issues, probably brought on by stress, but it is very uncomfortable.  I'm still unable to wear any real shoes because I'm becoming an elephant starting with my feet.  The swelling was comical to me until today when it really started to become uncomfortable.  Apparently the prescription for both of our ailments is rest.  So tonight we are back home and our goal for ourselves and for our babies is recuperative rest.

Specific Prayers

  • Lydia's PDA to close
  • Penny's PDA to begin to close
  • Penny's aortic coarctation to be non-existent, or mild enough to not require surgery
  • Continued growth and maturity for both girls
  • Continued strength and rest for us
We are grateful beyond words for the support you guys have shown through prayers, visits, messages, food, goodie bags...etc.  It's amazing how the Lord has provided our every need and continues to exceed them. He is using you and it is such a blessing.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts (especially the ones with the open ductuses..ducti..whatever)
