12-6 appointment

Dear Team Chu,

We made it another week in growing these babies!!  So thankful to have you all praying for us and for their continued health.

Today was another measuring appointment and they've continued to gain weight!  Penny is now at 421 grams (15oz) which means she's gained 60 grams in the last two weeks.  Lydia is now 872 grams (1lb 15oz) which is a weight gain of around 200 grams in two weeks!  We're jokingly calling her big fatty, but don't tell her!  For Penny, she needs to gain 79 grams (or around three ounces) to be a deliverable weight.

During the ultrasound they noticed that Penny's heart was beating faster than it had been regularly.  They measured the walls of her heart and found that they were slightly thickened, which Dr. Schneider said is the beginning of the distress that we have been expecting since week 16.  He didn't seem overly concerned but it did leave us more concerned than we would like.  Our next appointment is in a week and we will see how she is doing then.  Please pray for her heart to not have to work so hard, and for our hearts to not worry too much in the mean time.

In more positive news, Penny's bladder function seems to be up, and her fluids seem to be slightly up as well.  She's actually been able to scoot her little self around so her feet are now where her head has been all this time!  Lydia also treated us to a little show during the ultrasound.  She's apparently discovering her tongue and was sticking it in and out of her mouth.  It was really hilarious to watch.  Both of their heads are very near to each other and It's really pretty sweet to think of them encouraging each other in there.

I'll be meeting with Dr. Jenkins at Methodist Germantown this Thursday at 8am.  Jonathan has to leave for his last pre-baby show weekend on Wednesday evening so he won't be able to be there.  My friend Sara will be with me as we take a tour of the facilities and listen as Dr Jenkins tries to prepare us for what we're heading in to. Please pray for clarity of mind and levelheadedness so that I don't miss any information that will help us. Dr. Schneider seemed to be worried that Dr. Jenkins would scare us, but I really feel like I'm ready to face the scary stuff.  It's coming whether we're ready or not!

We'll be 26 weeks tomorrow which means 28 weeks is only 2 more weeks away.  We covet all of your prayers!  Thank you for your love and support!
