3-28

Lydia - our home scale says 8.5 but it rounds up   Penny - 2101 g  (4 lbs 10 oz)

Well, Penny finally got rid of her immunization ickies for one day and then early this morning she started needing more and more oxygen and was working hard to breath.  She had a chest x-ray and some labs done which showed elevated co2 levels and a slightly enlarged heart which is supposed to be common for babies who've been on and off of diuretics.  That still doesn't make me feel any better about it.  She's been put back on the high flow canula and is up to 4 liters of flow (which is down from 5) and the co2 levels are back down. The nurse says she's looking better and resting well so I'm trying not to worry.  They've started her on another medicine for her bilirubin even though it's been trending down it's still in the high range of normal. One example of when being above average is less than desirable.  They say that this kind of acute respiratory thing is pretty normal for post immunizations, so I'm trying not to worry too much and just pray that the Lord will continue to heal her precious lungs.  She also has a terrible case of diaper rash (it look like if you wiped too hard it would bleed) so as odd as it sounds, please pray for her booty while you're praying for her lungs.  It has to be terribly uncomfortable.

The good news is that her eyes were checked by the ophthalmologist today and they have improved!  Praise the Lord for miraculous medicine!  She'll be back in a week to check again.

Lydia is still doing very well.  She's been gassy (but who isn't) and has been becoming more and more alert.  It's really fun to have 3 whole hours of awake time some days.  It's also really fun to have 5 whole hours of sleep time some days!  Not everyday, just some...but we're grateful.  She's starting to grow out of some of her clothes and looks more like her daddy everyday (lucky girl).  Just a few more weeks of RSV season and then we should be able to loosen our hibernation just a bit.  We've gotten out on a few walks where there wouldn't be many people and I think it was good for both of us.  We just have to remember that she's still a preemie even if she looks like a sumo wrestler.

Specific Prayer
  • Penelope's lungs
  • Penelope's booty
  • Penelope's bilirubin
  • Penelope's mommy's worrying
  • Lydia's gas
  • Lydia's protection from germs
  • Lydia's daddy being away
