Can you believe they've been here and breathing air for 4 months now?!?! It feels like a second and forever at the same time. Wow.
Can you also believe that Jonathan and I have made it 4 months without getting sick?! Until now. He's on the road still trying to fight off a bug before coming home tomorrow night. I woke up this morning with a sore throat and went to the minor med where they told me it was viral. Bummer. That means that both girls have already been exposed which scared me to death. The funny thing is that Penny's doctor said it was possible that she was sick earlier with this virus and actually gave it to me! So the plan for now is rest and vitamin C and chicken soup. Jonathan is doing his version of that on the road and hopefully we'll both be feeling better by tomorrow night or at least Sunday so we can go to church and go see Penny!
Penny is still doing pretty well Still not intubated and seems to plan to stay that way! Her 3 am co2 was 64 and her Ph was 7.37. I was so grateful! Because I'm sick now they're going ahead and starting antibiotics and taking a blood culture and sputum culture just to rule out any serious viruses. She's acting like she feels so much better so hopefully these results will be good ones.
Lydia had a fitful afternoon trying to get rid of all that barium from her swallow study. She seems to be feeling better now and showing no signs of catching my virus. Hopefully it'll stay that way. She's also doing pretty well with her new bottle and thickened feeds. They'll take some getting used to (as do most new diets) but we've already seen a dramatic reduction in spit up and choking. I'm sure it's much more comfortable for her now.
Specific Prayer
- Both girls to be protected from my virus
- Quick healing for Jonathan and for me so that we can see the girls this afternoon
- Lydia to improve with her new feeding
- Penelope to keep her co2 down and reduce her oxygen requirement
- Penelope to heal quickly and move along with the surgery plan
- Jonathan to get home quickly and safely and to have a wonderful visit
| Penny's newer cpap setup that looks much more comfortable (that's her Pappaw's finger holding in her paci) |
| Lydia trying her hardest not to take a nap |
