4-19 #1

Last night Penny was stable. PRAISE THE LORD!!! Thank you so much for praying.  The midnight gas was 70 and her a.m. gas was 72.  I'm just so grateful that the doctors were willing to postpone intubation and give her a chance with this bi-pap machine. I'm most grateful though for all of your prayers.

My gut reaction to this at first was to blame the doctor for checking her CO2 (I know...it sounds silly now) because if they hadn't weaned the oxygen they wouldn't have checked the blood gas and we would have gone on as planned.  But my aunt had a good point.  If Penny had gone ahead with the upper GI as planned and had her surgeries with such high CO2 it could have been really bad.  So maybe the this little detour is another way that God is protecting Penny's life.  It's obvious He has some big plans for my little ones.  Even if its a future in drama...since it seems she already has that talent.

Thank you again for your prayers for our family.  They are beyond priceless to us.

Specific Prayer

  • Penelope's CO2 levels to continue to drop and for her own personal baseline to be apparent
  • Penelope's heart and lungs to have not sustained any damage from such high CO2
  • Wisdom for her doctors
  • Peace for her family
