5-19 unedited

Wow, Penelope is one tough cookie!  The doctors and nurses are all pleasantly surprised at the speed of her recovery.  She hasn't had pain medication since 5pm the day after her surgery.  She got back on home oxygen yesterday and they're weaning her even further down today (to .25 liters and 100% o2), she's on 3/4 formula feedings and since her little digestive system is back up and running they will be increasing her feeds soon.  That girl loves the bottle! The only issue is that she can't come home on the high calorie formula she's been getting, so she's been switched to a formula she can come home on which has lower calories but could slow down her weight gain. I'm pretty sure that's a run on sentence. She's back in her regular bed with her favorite mobile and also spends some time in her swing now.  She's a happy girl.  So I'm a happy Mommy.

I spoke with the doctor yesterday and he actually started talking about the "h" word!  Penny will hopefully be getting her immunizations tomorrow, which will most likely make her feel icky for a day or so, then the goal is the show consistent weight gain, sat well on her lower oxygen for at least 72 hours in a row, and not throw any kinks in the works!  If all goes well we're looking at her coming "h" next week!!  Jonathan will be home Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week but almost all of next week.  We'll see if we can time it for her to come "h" when her Daddy is home...I mean "h"!

Lydia is also doing well and is mostly happy (aside from the occasional gassy episode) so again, happy Mommy.

Specific Prayer
  • Penny's continued fantastic recovery
  • Penny's immunizations to not effect her negatively
  • Penny's weight gain to pick up
  • Lydia's adjustment to sharing
  • Our preparation to start this life for real!
