5-15 Surgery Eve unedited

It's finally here!  The surgery day we've all been waiting for! Tomorrow morning about 10 o'clock Penny will be going into surgery to have her hernias (yes, two) fixed and her g-tube put in.  We're all really excited that it's finally here but it is definitely in need of some prayer.  It will involve about 2 and a half hours of surgery which means a good amount of anesthesia.  She'll have to be put on the ventilator for the surgery and our major concern is that she might have difficulty getting off of the vent quickly.  Also, we're a bit nervous that the healing process could bring up some complications that we're not expecting so that's a matter of prayer too.  Our sweet Penny has been doing so well lately that I'm really not looking forward seeing her looking less than well.  At least this should be the last big hurdle for a while and we know that our God is big enough to handle it!

While you're praying for us, would you please pray for my friend Andrea and her sweet baby Ellie Rose.  Ellie Rose is being born tomorrow and when she is there will be a lot to figure out about what she needs.  She's been diagnosed with Dandy Walker Syndrome and a rare heart malformation, both of which may or may not need surgery immediately or in a while.  The prayers that I'm asking from you are for Andrea and her sweet husband as they face the uncertainty that tomorrow will bring.  I've been there.  And one of the beautiful things about the situation is that the Lord has been so gracious to allow the things I've learned during this crazy experience to be used immediately to help a friend who's going through something similar. I really thought it would take longer for that!!

Ok, now to bathe the baby and get to sleep.  Jonathan is driving home from Nashville tonight and will be here tomorrow for the surgery.  He'll be leaving early Tuesday. Again, the Lord provided exactly the day off he needed.  Beautiful.  Sleep now. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
