Penny
has had a relatively stable day. She is absolutely not a fan of the
contraption on her face and the noises that the machine makes. Neither
am I. It has to be the most effective torture for a mother to watch her
child suffer and not be able to do a thing about it. Our great
respiratory therapist friend tried to give her a chance to go back to
high flow by lowering her rate and checking her CO2 in 2 hours. If the
CO2 didn't go up she could switch. She didn't pass. It went from 71 to
80 and so her rate went back up and she'll have another blood gas drawn
at 8. If it's any higher we may be at risk of her going on the
ventilator. This is not my favorite roller coaster ride.
Specific Prayer
- Penelope's CO2 to improve and stabilize
- Penelope's to continue tolerating her feeds
- the doctors to have wisdom and compassion
- Us to have peace
As I was leaving, after
being quite stressed and emotional, her little hand was saying "I'm
gonna be ok mommy". She's so considerate.
