Little miss Penny has been showing off lately. Or at least she was. I had this email all written out and called the nurse to check on her and she had lost almost 3 oz since yesterday. It could be a fluke of using a different scale, or she could be working so hard to eat that she's not gaining enough. She also hasn't taken the whole bottle for the last 2 feeds. She may be trying to earn herself a g-tube. She is, on the positive side, back on the low flow canula at 1 liter and mostly room air. Her physical therapist said that she's right on track for her due date and the goal will be to get her closer to her actual birth date. Now all she has to do is keep this up, get through surgery, and get back to full feeds again and she can come home! Unfortunately that's going to be tough for her but she's a tough girl. The plan is to give her a few more days to show whether she needs the g-tube or not and to continue to wean her oxygen to more of a home oxygen setup. Surgery should come up to evaluate her Thursday or Friday and hopefully schedule it for next week. Then we'll see how she does coming off of the ventilator, get her back to full feeds, and get that little sassy thing home! I think I can't type the "h" word without an exclamation point! We're going to have to pray away any and all complications or delays. ALL of them. Maybe the thing we need more is the patience to deal with the complications that will most likely come. Either way, we gotta pray.
Lydia is in more of a balance with her digestive system with an alternating rice cereal/thickener feeding schedule. She's really starting to smile more and coo more and bat at toys. Penny is doing the same things too and it's just so precious to see their little personalities come out. Lydia likes to smile at me while she's supposed to be eating and the drool just makes it all the more cute. Penny has a habit of smiling at me when I pick her up, which is beyond endearing. Sweet sweet girls. I can't wait to get them together!
Specific Prayer
- Penelope's home stretch
- Wisdom in our decisions about her care
- Lydia's sleeping habits to normalize (little booger)
- Patience as we near the end of this part of the journey
